Noma Studio
Ceramics as a system of research
Brand Identity
Motion
NOMA is a ceramics workshop. Every piece is thrown and glazed by hand, which means no two come out the same. Small differences in thickness, in how the glaze pools, in how the kiln treats one shelf versus another.
Most workshops handle that by hiding it. They shoot the cleanest example, build a tidy catalogue, and hope the customer doesn't notice the piece that arrives looks slightly different from the one on screen. NOMA works the other way around. The variation is the reason the pieces are worth buying, and the brand had to say so out loud.
That set the problem. The identity needed to hold hundreds of one-off objects without flattening them into a product line, and without falling into the craft-market look that makes every ceramics brand read the same. Warm serif, muted beige, a hand-drawn mark. All of it says handmade and none of it says anything else.
